“We depend on ourselves and don’t have to look at any rival”

The Malaguista midfielder spoke after the draw against SD Eibar at Ipurúa. “Today is a turning point; now we have two games with our people at La Rosaleda,” he said.

Turning point

“It’s a good point. Given how the game unfolded, with them going ahead just before half-time, we came out strong after the break and went 1-2 up, but they quickly equalised. Considering the run we’ve been on, it’s a good point. We know we’ve come from three straight losses and we really needed it. The standings are very tight, and every point we get is crucial. Now we have two home games, with our people at La Rosaleda. We have to go all out. The team always steps up. Today is a turning point. We’re leaving Eibar happy. We’ve taken four points off the relegation zone and have two home games ahead.”

Fans’ unconditional support

“They are convinced that we need to pull through. We know what the fans have suffered, what Málaga went through two years ago with that relegation, and we have it in our hands. We depend on ourselves and don’t need to look at any rival. We need to go out at La Rosaleda to win the game, to take on the opponent. The team finished very well today, and we leave with good feelings. Hopefully, we can secure our safety at home.”

Team’s unshakeable faith

“I said at half-time to remember matches like the one against Cádiz or Granada, where we were behind against big teams and never lost our fight. We came out without fear and turned the game around, although they equalised later. Everyone has a lot at stake, and you can feel the tension on the pitch.”
