Demichelis: “We were unlucky when it came to scoring in this match”
Following the match between Juventus FC and Málaga CF, Málaga’s Martín Demichelis, Enzo Maresca and Portillo held a press conference in the ‘zona mixta’ of the Arechi Stadium in Salerno.
Statements
Maresca: “It’s the first time I’ve been able to play here in the city; the people and Juventus fans were amazing. I’m so happy, especially for my family.”
(Captain) “It was like a gift from the team and the coach, to be team captain here in my city. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m really grateful to everyone.”
(Pellegrini) "He’s absolutely fundamental to the team, just like Cazorla and Rondón, but they were sold out of necessity. The coach is key to our team’s success.”
Demichelis: “With everything that’s been happening over the last few days, and all the rumours surrounding the Club, I think it’s great that the team has come here to play against the Italian champions Juventus, who are a very powerful team. We were just unlucky when it came to scoring in this match, as we had several chances at goal. The most important thing now is to focus on the forthcoming Champions League play-off, regardless of the rival, and create as many goal opportunities as we can.”
Portillo: “I felt pretty good on the pitch, and I’m pleased with our performance, not just for me, but the whole team. It was an important test for us playing against Juve, one of the best teams in Italy and Europe, and I think we performed well. It was a shame we were unable to score, as I don’t think it represented our game play out there. We were all excited and full of motivation before the match, despite everything that’s going on at home. It’s not an easy situation for us to be in, but I think we’ve risen above it all, mainly for the fans who are always there supporting us, and without them, we wouldn’t have anything.”
