Defeat at the Nuevo Arcángel against Córdoba CF (1-0)

Málaga CF lost out to Córdoba CF in a match decided by a solitary goal scored by Albarrán (57’).

Málaga CF headed to the Nuevo Arcángel this Sunday to face Córdoba CF on Primera Federación matchday 34. The game got underway at 16:00 with more than 2,000 Malaguistas in the stands to cheer on the team.

Sergio Pellicer opted for a 1-4-3-3 formation consisting of Alfonso Herrero in goal; Murillo, Nelson Monte, Juande and Víctor in defence; Genaro, Manu Molina and Dani Lorenzo in midfield; with Larrubia on the right, Kevin on the left and Roberto upfront.

The match got off to a frantic start as both teams boldly looked for the rival goal, spurred on by the great atmosphere that reigned in the stands.

The Blue and Whites, today wearing the green and purple away kit, had two options to open the scoring before the first 10 minutes were up. In the 7th minute, Roberto headed a corner served by Víctor García at the near post. In the next offensive action by the Malaguistas, it was the left-back who hit a volley from the front that was cleared by local goalkeeper Carlos Marín.

Málaga CF's attacking sequence continued with a shot at the post by David Larrubia in the 12th minute from the right and a shot by Kevin from the edge of the area that ended with the Green and White keeper clearing for a corner kick.

Shortly before half-time, in the 43rd minute, Roberto and David Larrubia created a play on the right side of the attack that culminated in an attempt by the number '10' that went wide. With the scoreboard remaining at 0-0, the first 45 minutes came to an end.

At the start of the second half Sergio Pellicer made the team's first change, bringing on Gabilondo for the cautioned Murillo.

The home side’s push marked the first part of the second half until they took the lead. Carlos Albarrán headed an assist from Kuki Zalazar into the net from the corner (1-0, min57).

Following the goal, the second substitution took place in the Malaguista ranks, Ramón joined play in place of Manu Molina. Dioni subsequently came on for Genaro.

In the final substitution window, Sergio Pellicer refreshed the wingers, bringing on Antoñito Cordero and Javier Avilés for Kevin Medina and David Larrubia.

The Malaguistas tried until the final whistle against Iván Ania's team that didn’t allow any clear chances.

In the last stretch, Antoñito Cordero headed a Víctor cross wide from the left and then Alfonso Herrero had to intervene to deflect Antonio Casas' shot.

A header from Juande in the 87th minute after a cross from Dani Lorenzo was the last option for the Malaguistas to score.

The scoreboard didn’t move again and Albarrán's goal made it 1-0. Málaga CF's next match is on Sunday 5th May at 19:00 against AD Mérida at La Rosaleda.
