Dani Martín: “I was very clear on wanting to be a Málaga player”

The new Blue and White goalkeeper was presented today at La Rosaleda: “I’m a brave, competitive, consistent keeper with a great deal of passion”, he said during his official presentation.

The new Malaguista number ‘13’ was accompanied to his press conference by Manolo Gaspar. “We’re grateful to Dani for the effort made in carrying out the operation. We wish him every success, which will be the team’s success, and hope he fulfils his personal and collective ambitions”, said the Club’s Sporting Director.

On arrival, Dani found “an incredible group, great atmosphere and I feel very comfortable with them. Physically it’s been a hard few weeks, but I’m feeling better every day and taking steps forward. I was very clear on wanting to come here from the outset and be a Málaga player. And here I am”.

Competition in goal will be intense with Dani Barrio. “We are two goalkeepers of different ages who are at different stages. He’s a superb goalkeeper and I can learn a lot from him”, he said, before defining his style of goalkeeping: “I’m a brave keeper who likes to play with his feet. I’m competitive and consistent with a great deal of passion and heart, a more or less complete goalkeeper”.

In regard to the fans, who are now allowed back at the stadium, Dani hopes they “enjoy the team, we’re really going to need them to be like another player. Let’s hope they support us as much as possible so we can give our all”.

In addition, Manolo Gaspar is clear that we need to “strengthen upfront and give it some spark. That’s what we’re working on, and we hope to be well-positioned when the time comes”. At the end of his speech, MCF’s Sporting Director talked about the agreement between LaLiga and an investment fund that would financially support the clubs. “The position of the Club is in favour. On my part I understand it’s a positive impulse and it will help to avoid a haemorrhage of players who go overseas. Also so that the money moves between clubs, providing us with that oxygen to remain competitive. Málaga's position is to agree one hundred percent”.
