Happy with the win
“We’re happy, the team really deserved it, especially away from home, which had been very difficult throughout the season. It’s a huge relief and joy. Now we have to enjoy it, because it’s been hard, and focus on Almería, making sure we make these three points count at home.”
Great personal moment
“I feel very good. Physically, I’m getting better and better, little by little I’m finding my rhythm, improving with the ball, and gaining importance within the team. I want to keep progressing, I still have room to improve, both in terms of stats and in all aspects of my game. I’m eager for more, to keep working, and now to enjoy the moment.”
Goal action
“They had played a ball to Eneko, and I was waiting for the second ball. When the ball was loose, I tried to take it, and on the second touch, I sent it forward and saw that I had space ahead. When I saw the space, I didn’t think about anything, just go for the ball. I saw the goalkeeper and tried to place it at that post. I saw the opportunity, went for it, and it worked out.”
Reaction in the second half
“We knew it was part of the game plan. Playing away is difficult because teams make themselves strong at home. Our idea was to be patient and wear them down with the ball. We knew there would be moments of suffering, it’s a team that pushes you into their area. They couldn’t maintain that pace, in the second half, the gaps started to appear, they couldn’t keep up with the runs, and we took advantage of the spaces.”
Managing the advantage
“At those moments in the match, you’re just hoping the referee blows the final whistle, but we tried to avoid what has happened other times. We stayed strong and focused, didn’t sit back, and tried to finish the game with those set-piece plays. We managed to slow the game down a bit and take advantage of the counterattacks when the opponent left gaps at the back, and the team did exactly that.”
Winning away from home
“It was necessary. The team works hard, and away from home we’ve lost many points due to small details in the final minutes. It’s frustrating to leave empty-handed week after week. It’s a relief, the team deserved it, and we hope this serves as a turning point for the upcoming games.”
Contribution to the team
“When I’m on the field, I try to help in the areas that are my responsibility, defensively, and by using my qualities to control the ball, maintain possession, and make an impact on the counterattacks. I focus on my work, doing it as best as I can, and if the coach decides to substitute me, that’s his decision, and I will respect it.”
Celebration with the Malaguistas at the Carlos Belmonte
“Just like us, who were seeking the victory, the travelling fans and those at home also deserved it. On many away trips, the feeling has been negative. I happened to score at that moment, and the first thing I felt was to dedicate it to them and enjoy it together, it’s a source of pride.”
