“We want to continue along this path”

Einar, C. Puga, Dotor, Chupe and Jauregi, along with A. Herrero, D. Larrubia and Víctor, took part in Málaga CF’s Media Day. “We have to focus on the short term, take the next step, and move forward steadily,” they said.

Einar

The importance of ending the year well

“After everything we’ve been through over the past six months, we can end the year on a positive note. Hopefully that’s the case, that in the derby at home, with our fans, we can give them the joy they deserve, and even give ourselves that Christmas gift.”

The team comes first

“I’m happy, but the most important thing is the team. We’re getting good results now, which was something we were missing at the beginning. There will be times when I don’t play, and that’s fine, what matters is helping the team.”

A 2025 with good times and tough moments

“We’ve had some very good moments and some tough ones. I hold on to some of those victories we really enjoyed in the dressing room, which maybe aren’t valued as much from the outside, but we know how hard they were to achieve. There were also bad moments, like Pelli’s dismissal, when the atmosphere became tense. We knew we were to blame and that we had to take a step forward. The black and white of the year.”

Short term goals and steady progress in 2026

“We have an exciting year ahead. We need to keep doing things the way we have been, step by step, calmly. For now, the results are coming: eight points out of 12, which is difficult in this league. We want to continue along this path, focus on the next step in the short term, and move forward with confidence. From there, we can grow and enjoy it together.”

C. Puga

Special final match of the year

“It’s an Andalusian derby. They’re all special, but it’s true that this one comes just before Christmas, which makes it even more special. Hopefully we can finish with all three points.”

Good start with Funes

“We’re in good form, at a strong moment. We’ve gone a month without losing, including a tough win in Albacete. Let’s see if we can keep the run going.”

Personal situation

“I’ve missed 10 matches, and now I’m getting back into rhythm. I want to return to how I was in the first four games, at that competitive pace, which was very good. Hopefully I can regain it soon and help the team.”

Dotor

Goal: second consecutive victory

“A victory would be a boost for the team heading into the new year, helping build confidence. We’re working on it, and we’re getting better all the time. Hopefully we can get the win, if we play well, we can achieve it.”

Confidence for a tough competition

“Winning these matches has to give us confidence. In this league, it’s crucial: if you win two games, you look up the table; if you lose two, you look down. Hopefully we can get the victory, it would be a real morale boost for everyone.”

Work and more work

“The coach has confidence in me. I’ve taken a step forward, but I think I still need to take another. I need to be more of a presence both on and off the pitch. I’m happy, working hard every day, and eager to take that extra step I need.”

Goal-scoring

“It’s a part of my game that hasn’t really been seen yet. It’s a great quality I have. Taking the next step means having the confidence to be more of a leader, to carry the team a bit during tough moments. I’m convinced I’ll get there because I’m motivated and happy. If I keep working, I’ll achieve it.”

A step forward toward his best version

“The Carlos who arrived and the Carlos I am now have changed. I’ve taken a step forward, but I still have a bit to go. I’m happy and increasingly adapting to my teammates and the club, with a lot of confidence that things will go well.”

Jauregi

Key win at the Carlos Belmonte

“We’re coming off an away win, which had been difficult for us until now. It’s the last game of the year, with our fans… we’ll go for all three points.”

Three points on his return to the starting-11

“I didn’t get any minutes in the last two matches, but the other day I started, and I’m happy, happy to play and to win away from home.”

A lot of hard work

“At first, it was a bit tough because of the injury I had. But with hard work, everything comes. The other day, I was finally able to play again.”

A wish for 2026

“What I ask for, and what we all want, is to keep going in this direction. Not losing matches, winning away from home, and moving up the table.”

The 12th player

“Hopefully they keep being like this. The other day, they were a real force for us, cheering as they always do. When we face tough moments in games, we want them to keep supporting us. We always want to win and celebrate with them.”

Chupe

Eager for a win at La Rosaleda

“Really looking forward to it. Since Monday, we’ve been focused on Almería, aiming to finish in the best way possible: giving the fans a victory. They deserve it, and so do we, as we work hard every day in training.”

A key moment to win

“It’s an important victory that would fill us with pride. We know we’d go into the holiday break with good points and return after Christmas recharged and ready.”

Five goals in the current season

“It comes at a good time for me. Scoring a goal after the injury and the challenges I’ve faced off the pitch has been very important. I approach it with a lot of motivation and excitement.”

A special dedication to the míster

“We’ve been together for many years, and he has been like a father to me. He has given me so much advice and supported me during times in the reserve team when things weren’t going well. I’ll be grateful to him for life.”

Looking forward to an exciting 2026

“I hope we continue the streak we’re on. We’re on the right track and will keep moving upward. If we stay united and work together, we’ll surely give the fans many reasons to celebrate. With calm and patience, it’s sure to be an exciting year ahead.”
