Dani Lorenzo: “The team went from less to more, but we lacked finishing”

The Málaga midfielder spoke to the media after #MálagaCádiz. “In the second half we loosened up, but we were missing that accuracy and needed to put away the chances we had,” he said.

Review of the 0-1 defeat

“In the end, you leave feeling a bit gutted by the defeat, especially at home. The team went from less to more, and their goal conditioned us a bit. In the second half we had plenty of chances, but we weren’t clinical in front of goal. We have to stay calm. I saw the team doing well, and the season is very long.”

Personal

“I felt good. I’ve added 90 minutes and some match load in my legs. I leave with that little ‘sting,’ like I did at the start. I try to always be ready, especially after last year, which was a tough one. I want to find my best version to help the team.”

First and second half

“Cádiz pressed us well in the first half. Their goal was a cold shower, and we were chasing the game. In the second half we loosened up, but we were missing that accuracy and needed to put away the chances we had. Still, I see the team focused, and we’ll be picking up wins sooner rather than later.”

Further analysis

“We always want to win, especially at home. Stay calm, the Second Division is very tough, with maximum competitiveness. If I had scored the chance I had, the game could have easily changed. I see the team full of ambition, and we’ll turn these next two games around.”

Position and fitness

“I feel comfortable in all positions in midfield. At the back, I have more contact with the ball and can help move the team. Whatever is best and what the coach thinks will help the team.”

“Yes, all good. Getting back into rhythm again. Last year was tough, I’ve lifted a weight off my shoulders, and I just hope to keep improving so my best version shows.”
