Dani Barrio: “We have to reinforce the good feelings with a good result”

The Blue and White goalkeeper held a post-match press conference following the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 27 fixture. “The team has been improving in terms of sensations in the last two matches, but we need points,” he affirmed.

Dani Barrio had a few words after the match against UD Almería at La Rosaleda. Following the 0-1 defeat, the keeper says he leaves with “mixed feelings. The team did well, but we didn’t even get a point. We must keep working hard and improving. That’s what we need to do in order to continue to grow. We're leaving empty-handed against a great team, it’s February and we need points,” he said.

Following the team’s great work in defence in the first half, the Almería goal arrived in the second half. The Asturian goalkeeper believes the action was down to “the rival’s merit. The pass to Portillo, the cross and the shot at goal by Sadiq was First Division material. They showed their quality and took the match.” He went on to talk about the need for improvement in defence. “When we defend in a block, we’re much better. They didn’t have many chances. We performed better than we did in in Zaragoza. You have to defend strongly, try to keep a clean sheet. We have good attacking qualities.”

As well as the sensations and improvement compared to recent games, Dani has shown the team is aware of the need for points. “The team has been improving in terms of sensations in the last two matches, but we need points. We need to continue working hard, keep a cool head and reinforce the good feelings with a good result. We’re all pumped up and raring to go, and the first stepping stone to build on that is a victory,” said the Malaguista number ‘1’.

Finally, Dani said he felt the fans’ affection for him, for which he’s grateful. “You try to do your best to help the team,” he said.
