The 2026/27 preseason is about to get underway for Málaga CF. It begins just over three weeks after the club secured its historic promotion to LALIGA EA SPORTS with a victory over UD Almería at their stadium on 20th June.
Preparations for the upcoming season in the top flight of Spanish football will begin tomorrow, Monday 13th July at 9:00. The squad will reunite in the dressing room before taking to the pitch at La Rosaleda’s Annexe for their first preseason training session under Funes and his coaching staff.
A total of 29 players have been called up for the opening of preseason. Of those, 20 are expected to take part in the first on-field training session with the group, including 16 first-team players: defenders Carlos Puga, Einar, Pastor, Recio, Dani Sánchez and Rafita; midfielders Ramón, Izan Merino, Dani Lorenzo, Aaron Ochoa, Rafa, Arriaza and David Larrubia; and forwards Joaquín, Haitam and Chupe. They will be joined by four players from Atlético Malagueño: defender Santaella, midfielder Marcos Rosa, and wingers Juani and Adri López.
Moussa, Lobete, Jauregi, Niño, Alfonso Herrero, Carlos López, and homegrown goalkeeper Andrés will head to Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga to complete their preseason medical examinations.
Meanwhile, Murillo and Juanpe will continue progressing through the different stages of their recovery from injury.
Málaga CF's first team has seven training sessions scheduled for the opening week of preseason, with morning sessions planned for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, plus a double session on Wednesday.
To look back at the team's last training session, you only have to go back 24 days, to 19th June, when they trained on the main pitch at La Rosaleda Stadium, which is currently unavailable due to the ongoing pitch replacement. Since then, the team played and secured promotion in Almería the following day, celebrated the achievement on Monday 22nd June, and then enjoyed 23 days of holiday. Since Thursday, the players have been returning in stages to undergo preseason medical tests at the hospital of the club's official medical provider.
Everything is set for the start of the 2026/27 preseason!
