Condolences for the death of Piquer

Málaga Club de Fútbol offers their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Vicente Piquer, a CD Málaga player (1965-67) who passed away yesterday. Rest in Peace.

Vicente Piquer Mora was a Club Deportivo Málaga player in the 1965/66 and 1966/67 seasons, playing the position of winger or right-back. Born in Algar de Palancia (Valencia), on 24th February 1935, he played for CD Mestalla – Valencia CF’s reserve team – later making the leap to the first team, where he remained from 1956 to 1965.

After taking part in 300 official games with the ‘Che’ team, where he won two ‘Copas de Ferias,’ he signed to CD Málaga where he stayed for two seasons, the first being in the elite with Luis Miró as coach. On 4th September 1965, he debuted as a Blue and Whites’ player in a match held at La Rosaleda against CD Pontevedra.

During his second and final season as a Malaguista player, he took part in just one League game, against Algeciras CF, in an historic year for Málaga, winning the Second Division title and achieving First Division promotion. In total, he played 11 official games with CD Málaga, all in the league.

After retiring as a player, he later became coach to teams including Albacete Balompié, Levante UD, UD Alzira and CD Barbastro. He also took part in an international match with Spain’s first team, and well as another two matches with the ‘B’ team.
