Cifuentes: “It helps us to gain sensations”

The Malaguista right-back attended to the media in Coín following Málaga-Córdoba. “He’s a player of another level”, he said about his new teammate, Shinji Okazaki.

Analysis of 1-1 draw

“During these pre-season games it’s important, beyond the result, to gain sensations and accumulate work. In the first half we could have gone level, but in the second half we were more in control of play and could have gone on to win, but that’s the least of it”.

Gaining rhythm

“You have to accumulate minutes and work hard. The team still has tired legs, but this helps us to gain sensations ahead of the matches, which is the most important thing. You can notice a little that we still don’t have that level of ease with the ball, but that’s what these friendlies and the pre-season are for. We’ve only just started and there are more games coming up to help us to gain better pace of play”.

Committed fans

“It’s highly appreciated that they came here, on such a warm day, we were thrilled and only have words of thanks for them, as we did last season. We hope the fans will continue to support the team as they’ve always done (…) They are responding magnificently, looking at the number of season ticket holders, it’s amazing. We’ll try our best to return the level of confidence they are giving us”.

Debut of Okazaki

“He’s doing well, he still has to adapt to the team and the game, as well as that physical pace. He can bring so much to the team. He’s a player of another level and we hope he helps us this season”.
