Cifu: “It was a dream come true coming to Málaga”

Miguel Ángel Garrido Cifuentes, ‘Cifu’ was officially presented as a Málaga CF player earlier today in La Rosaleda’s press room: “I’m an active, speedy winger,” says the Granada-born player.

The right winger, on loan from Elche CF until the end of the present 2015/16 season, was accompanied by Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar during his presentation, along with sports director, Francesc Arnau. “We think the team is reinforced, pending any further movement.  Now we’ll wait and see.  This market is unpredictable and we must be attentive to everything, however to date, the team has been reinforced,” comments the Catalán-born director.

Statements to the media – Cifu

First impressions

“Everything is great, today I’ve seen we’re a good group and little by little I hope to enter the team’s dynamic.  I came to the First Division, and for me it was a dream come true coming to Málaga, being able to grow as a player and take a step forward.”

“When the possibility to come here arose, it was the primary and most important option for me.  This is my dream and there’s nowhere like Málaga to fulfil it.”

Individual characteristics

“I am a winger, I cover a wide area and try to reach the target with speed.  I hope I will be able to help the team with hard work, and assist the attack with good passes and goal opportunities.”

"Last season I was loaned out to Girona and played as a shuttler.  It’s a position somewhat between a winger and in core midfield, which is the position I played this season with Elche.  I’m available to the coach for him to place me where he thinks I’ll give my best performance.”

Willy Caballero, Albentosa and Gracia

“I was fortunate to meet Willy in Elche, he came here and triumphed.  He had great success here, and won the people of Málaga and the Club, so for me he’s an example to follow and a point of reference (…)  I met Raúl (Albentosa), who was at Elche for a few years.  The group has made me feel very welcome, particularly Raúl who I was already friends with (…)  Gracia?  I’ve got to know him better today, I think he’s a great coach who likes good gameplay, so my first impressions are good.   I hope I react well to what he wants, and I hope to keep growing as a player.”

LaLiga debut

“I imagine that the pace is much quicker in the First Division.  When the time comes to play I hope I do my best, using all five senses to perform well.”
