The Uruguayan wore the captain’s armband for the first time in Duisburg: “The important thing is to overcome all the obstacles and be at the best we can be for the season”.
Tournament summary
“The first match escaped us within 10 minutes, but we had 30 minutes of very good gameplay in which the team could have won by two or three goals. We didn’t know how to take advantage of the chances, and within two minutes things became difficult”.
Second match
"The second game was more even, but we still didn’t know how to make the most of our opportunities. In these 45-minute matches it’s very difficult to make a comeback, but there’s a lot to learn from defeats, so hopefully we’ll have time to improve on everything”.
Physical stage
"At the moment, I’m trying to get my legs in shape, we’re at a physical stage in which the legs are taking more strain than usual. The important thing is to not miss any training session, to overcome all the obstacles and be at the best we can be for the start of the season. That’s when lost points will do the damage, so we need to start accumulating points at the beginning of a long season where the team and the fans always have big hopes”.
Open group
"The new teammates arriving are joining a very open and happy group, which makes it easy for them to adapt as quickly as possible to the team. We try to look after the new players when they arrive so they can bring all their techniques into play for the good of Málaga”.
Captain
"I’m thrilled to have worn the captain’s armband, even though it was a friendly. I’m very happy to wear the band in this part of Málaga’s history”.
