Chory: “It’s a blow, but now we have to focus on Sevilla”

The Malaguista appeared in the mixed zone at San Mamés after #AthleticMálaga: “We’re showing how much we want it, and although we haven’t been able to, we are going to get ahead”.

A great second half

“It’s a cruel blow as we know that in the last 20-25 minutes of the first half we gave too much away to the rival, which is how they managed to equalise and turn the result around. However, in the second half, we knew how to correct the mistakes we’d made, having moved back and ceding to an opponent that comes at you from the wings and who shows great danger in aerial play. We went out there with another mentality, we pushed hard, created situations, but we needed goals, and weren’t able to score”.

Chances to go level

“We didn’t lose just because of the penalty, we lost because we gave away 20-30 minutes of the first half. After that we tried to equalise, with my shot, Rolan’s attempt, the penalty. In the second half, the rival didn’t give out a sense of danger of netting a third goal at any moment. It’s another harsh blow, but now we have to focus on Sevilla FC, as this match is over now, we can’t reverse it”.

The team is still determined

“We need to carry on until the numbers say otherwise. Although the games are passing by, the team still maintains enthusiasm, is looking forward, but things aren’t going our way. Now it’s time to wipe the slate clean, concentrate on Wednesday and give our all on the pitch”.

Go for it on Wednesday

“Keep fighting and keep searching for that much-needed victory, which without doubt depends on us, even though the rivals also play hard and make things difficult. We’re got an incredibly tough game coming up on Wednesday against a very strong rival, but we must go out and fight and give everything we’ve got to get out of this situation and claim the win we need as soon as possible”.

Never give up

“The chances were there, in the second half we were a different team, who played well and had Athletic cornered in their field. However, the occasions might be there, but they’re not going in for whatever reason. It also has to be said that their goalkeeper made some amazing saves; a penalty, a point-blank header from Rolan, but we need to carry on. We will never give up. We’re showing how much we want it, and although we haven’t been able to, we are going to get ahead. I believe, with this attitude, there’s still a lot to play for and we’ll never surrender”.
