Duda, recognised with the ‘M’ for Málaga award

The former Málaga CF player, and current Academy scout was recognised by Diputación provincial, for his career with the Blue and Whites and his contribution to Málaga football.

Sergio Paula Barbosa Valente ‘Duda’ was distinguished by the Diputación provincial with the ‘M’ for Málaga, for playing the most official matches in Blue and Whites’ history (348) and contributing to project the image of the province both nationally and internationally.

Duda forms part of Malaguista history and continues to contribute to the growth of the Club, now within the MCF Academy staff, seeking out talent throughout the country for the Malaguista youth teams.

“This is a very important award for me. Maybe it’s come a bit too soon, because of my age (laughs), but it’s a privilege to receive the ‘M’ for Málaga award, and feel the affection of this city and its people”, says the player who has taken part in the most matches in the history of Málaga CF.

The event, held today, Monday at the Edgar Neville Auditorium at Diputación provincial, to mark Andalucía Day (28th February) was attended by government delegate in Andalucía, Antonio Sanz; president of the Diputación provincial, Elías Bendodo; Mayor of the city, Francisco de la Torre; and regional delegate of Culture, Monsalud Bautista, as well as representatives from town halls throughout the province.

More winners

As well as recognising Duda’s career, the supra-municipal entity also awarded Museo de Belenes de Mollina, PTV Málaga and tourism entrepreneur, Antonio García del Valle, for their contribution to Málaga society.

The ceremony of the ‘M’ for Málaga awards ended with an interpretation of the hymn of Andalucía and Spain, and a photograph of the winners with the representatives from the Andalusian and Málaga institutions.
