Cenk Gönen was officially presented as a new Málaga CF goalkeeper today, alongside Kuzmanovic: “I want to prove my level and compete for a place”.
Goalkeeper, Cenk Gönen was presented as a Blue and Whites’ player, along with Zdaravko Kuzmanovic at the events hall of the Hospital Vithas Parque San Antonio.
Club adviser, Antonio Benítez attended the presentation, along with sports director, Francesc Arnau, who says that Gönen “comes from being a goalkeeper with great projection in Turkey, where he was an international and signed for two major clubs such as Besiktas and Galatasaray”.
Work
“I’m very happy to be here and to be able to continue my sports career at Málaga. I have met with Míchel, but we didn’t talk about my position. However, I’m training hard and doing my job, I’ve come here to be competitive”.
Showing my level
“I’ve played with Turkey’s national team and with big clubs in my country. I have good responsiveness. Although I’m still not at 100 per cent, I hope to be soon. I think I’ll enjoy it here a lot and hope to show what I can do”.
Roberto, supportive
“Roberto is a great guy and a great goalkeeper. I talk to him a great deal as he speaks English well, which is important to my adaptation”.
Enthusiasm
“I’ve played many matches over the years, which I think have been good matches. Málaga CF called me and said the coach had seen me play and wanted me to join the team. At that moment, I felt very excited. I don’t feel stressed, I feel full of excitement, as my dream has always been to play in one of the big leagues in Europe, such as England or Spain. Now I have this opportunity and I’m looking forward to succeeding here”.
Competitiveness
“You must always be prepared to play. It wouldn’t be any surprise to me if I was in the starting line-up for the first LaLiga match. I’m here to be competitive and to try and play and earn my place”.
