Bustinza: “We have to be more aggressive”

The defender talked to the Club media following the match against CD Leganés at Butarque: “We need to take more risks and convert them into opportunities and goals,” he explained.

Unai Bustinza analysed the defeat against the Pepinero rival to MCFTV: “During the first half we had control of the match. In recent games it’s been a struggle to maintain the positives, generate chances and cause more damage. In the second half, because of Alberto’s injury, a mistake was made, and the rival scored the goal that changed the game. We didn’t know how to hurt them. They felt too comfortable with how we started the game and what we should have generated,” he said.

More than 400 Malaguistas travelled to Leganés to cheer on the team. The defender has a message for the fans: “We’re disappointed. Firstly, we’d like to thank them for coming here, we really want to start enjoying this with them. We have to be aware that we’re in a difficult position, we’re at the bottom, and need to be a far more solid team. When you can’t win and you don’t have that finesse, you mustn’t concede as it penalises you so much. Keeping a clean sheet means you stay alive.”

Bustinza is a former captain of CD Leganés. This was undoubtedly a special visit, but the situation doesn’t allow him to focus on these feelings: “It was great to come back here, I was here for many years, and I enjoyed some very special moments. Yet the result and the situation we’re in impacts everything. I imagine that in time I will see it differently. Right now, I’m more focused on the situation we’re in.”

On Sunday the Blue and Whites will have a new opportunity against CD Lugo: “There’s no time for anything else other than to prepare for the match in the best way we can and give our all. What we sought in the first half, but far more aggressively. We need to take more risks and convert them into opportunities and goals,” he concluded.
