Blue and Whites win the Women’s Málaga derby (8-1)

Málaga CF Femenino defeated Puerto de la Torre CD Los Morales by a resounding 8-1, to claim their 11th consecutive win and seal their place at the top.

Málaga Femenino has made Cártama their biggest fortress. The Blue and Whites still haven’t suffered a home defeat, and today claimed another victory – the 11th on the run – against Puerto de la Torre. The Blue and Whites won the Málaga derby by 8-1, on matchday 19 of Segunda División Nacional Femenina Group IV.

From the start, the locals dominated possession and created the first opportunity in front of goal within the initial stages of play, thanks to a shot from Adriana that was blocked by the Puerto de la Torre keeper. The Greens maintained great pressure in defence, making it difficult to open the scoring until minute 12. At that point, Adriana took advantage of a clearance by the rival defence to put her team in front, slamming the ball into the back of the Puerto de la Torre goal (1-0). The chances for Antonio Contreras’ girls multiplied, and in 19’, a header from the captain found the net, but was disallowed for being offside. The locals only had to wait another minute for Raquel, thanks to a pass from Farfán, to make it 2-0 by minute 20. The match belonged to the Blue and Whites, as the home side dominated Puerto’s area, whilst Adriana took her team to a 3-0 lead with another goal following clearance by the rival keeper. Málaga Femenino remained very comfortable on the field of play, which translated into another goal, again the work of Adriana (4-0).

After the 4-0, Puerto stepped up the pressure, and Esperanza put the visitors on the scoreboard in minute 38 of the first half, 4-1. Just six minutes before the break, the referee declared a penalty in favour of the Blue and Whites, which Paula converted (5-1, minute 39). Málaga brought an end to the first 45 minutes with a goal by Karina, and at half-time it was a 6-1 lead.

In the second half, Antonio Contreras’ girls came out wanting to increase their lead, and Karina was in charge of fulfilling the task. The player from Puerto Rico entered the small area and pushed the ball into the goal (7-1, minute 51). Málaga still owned the ball, and Contreras gave the players on the bench a chance. In 60’, he introduced Noelia and Shiv, in substitution of Paula and Raquel respectively. Five minutes later, Adriana and Karina left the pitch, with Sheila and Meri coming on in their place. The number ‘9’ sealed the final 8-1 result, with the Malaguistas winning the Málaga derby.
