Atlético Malagueño were in action at La Rosaleda in front of over 2,000 fans for their fourth match of Tercera RFEF Group IX against CD Torreperogil.
Funes selected the following starting-11 with a 1-4-5-1 formation, with Carlos López in goal; Bilal, Arriaza, Murillo, Víctor Olmo in defence; Paco and Álex Rico on the double pivot; Juanmita, Jesús and Dani Lorenzo in midfield; and Loren upfront.
The Blue and Whites dominated play throughout and enjoyed the clearest opportunities. Juanmita and Jesús stood out in the opening stages.
In minute 28, Murillo had to leave the pitch due to an injury to his left elbow and Rafa came on in his place.
Shortly afterwards, a good collective play by Atlético Malagueño culminated in the first goal of the match, the work of Loren from a pass from Jesús (1-0, min33).
The home side maintained their lead at half-time. As soon as play resumed, Funes’ team scored again. Jesús approached the area and unleashed a left-footer to the post that found the Jaén goal (2-0, min47).
The Malaguistas dominated territorially, and gameplay remained in the Torreperogil half, which led to the third goal. Loren finished an assist from Paco to send the ball to the back of the net (3-0, min59).
However, this moment of joy contrasted with the one that occurred in minute 64, when Víctor Olmo had to leave the field of play after sustaining an injury to his right knee.
He was replaced by Cristian, who joined the game in the second half, along with Oñate, Bolívar and Chupete. It was Chupete who sealed the final result, heading in a corner taken by Jesús from the left (4-0, min81).
Following this victory at La Rosaleda, Atlético Malagueño have seven points from the first four matches.
Next weekend the boys will be in action in Granada against Arenas de Armilla.
