Funes: “We honoured the temple”

Funes, Atlético Malagueño coach, said a few words on the pitch at La Rosaleda following the game against CD Torreperogil, which the Blue and Whites won by 4-0.

“You look at the result and it looks as though it was easier than it was. The rival had clear ideas, a low block which meant we lost the ball, and they went on the counter. We had to really push them in order for the gaps to appear. Then the goals started to arrive,” he said in his first analysis of the match.

The team achieved their first home win, but last weekend claimed victory away from home: “We’ve had some good moments of play, the lads are in a good dynamic, and we need to continue along this line,” he stated.

In regard to playing at La Rosaleda, he said: “You don't come to the temple very often, so when you do, you have to honour it. The guys were raring to go, it was so exciting for them. We could see that extra motivation, which we must maintain.”

He ended with a message in relation to the remainder of the competition: “The important thing is that we play well and keep up this pace of movement, which has to be one of our strengths and which we’ve endorsed in recent games. Hopefully the points will keep on coming and we must make sure the fans who come to see us enjoy the matches.”
