Best European City of Sport joins ‘Malaguistas to the Core’
Alhaurín de la Torre, located 19 kilometres from La Rosaleda, will feature in Saturday’s match against Real Zaragoza.
To say Alhaurín de la Torre is to say proximity to Malaga and, of course, proximity to La Rosaleda Stadium; just 19 kilometres separate the best European City of Sport back in 2015 from the Malaguista HQ. A municipality with a strategic location, between the Metropolitan Area of Málaga and the Valle del Guadalhorce region, next to the Costa del Sol. It borders Málaga capital, Cártama, Torremolinos, Mijas, Benalmádena and Alhaurín el Grande.
Over 40,000 people live in this municipality, which has a great cultural, sports and leisure offering. Must-see places include the Sierra de Jarapalos, Casa del Conde, Fuensanta Convent, Ermita del Alamillo, the Muslim Tower, the Cuevas del Barrio Viejo, Santuario del Carbón, Finca El Portón, the Parish Church and the Arcos de Zapata.
Alhaurín de la Torre boasts an unprecedented cultural offering with its Flamenco Festival ‘Torre del Cante’, a nationally renowned jewel, and a Holy Week that receives visitors from all over the country.
Its gastronomy is also a major pull factor, with typical dishes such as ‘cachorreñas’, ’poncima’ soups, ‘tortillas de bacalao’ and ‘arroz con castañas.’
This beautiful town will feature in the ‘Malaguistas to the Core’ campaign, and La Rosaleda Stadium will open its doors to them next Saturday at 20:30 for #MálagaRealZaragoza. Mayor, Joaquín Villanova Rueda said that young and old residents of the town alike will enjoy Málaga’s match against Real Zaragoza from the stands and also from the pitch. Eleven children will also accompany our players in the run-up to the match for the official team photo.
The name of Alhaurín de la Torre will resonate on the speakers at La Rosaleda for the Blue and White fans, the wonders of this municipality will be displayed on the video scoreboard, there will be a representation of local products on the first floor of the Stadium, and the Málaga Club de Fútbol bus will bring the locals to the Malaguistas’ home to enjoy Saturday’s game. We look forward to celebrating this day together with a victory.
Thank you, Alhaurín de la Torre for having Malaguismo in your roots, having a Blue and White heart, and instilling respect for Memory, Commitment and Faith.
