Speed, dribbling and the capacity to unbalance any rival on both attacking wings, are Atsu’s main qualities shown within the teams he’s been part of during his footballing career.  He started off in Portugal, in Oporto’s youth ranks, following a training period in the Feyenoord GomaFetteh Academy (Ghana).

He excelled in FC Porto’s youth categories between 2009 and 2011, and in 2011/12 was loaned out to Rio Ave FC in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, where he had an excellent season individually (27 matches and 6 goals in the Primeira Liga), and collectively won the Taça de Portugal.  In 2012/13 he returned to Oporto where he achieved another two new titles (Portugal’s Liga and Supercopa), and debuted in the Champions League, playing 8 games in the biggest competition on the continent.  He was a direct witness to Málaga CF’s qualification to the quarter-finals, playing in both the first and second legs – leaving the bench – in the historic tie for the ‘Malaguismo’.

In 2013 Atsu joined English side, Chelsea, and over the past three seasons has been loaned out to Dutch team, Vitesse, and British sides, Everton and Bournemouth.  In the Eredivisie in 2013/14, he gained continuity playing 28 matches and scoring 5 League goals with Vitesse.  Also, Atsu has been a regular in recent years with Ghana’s first team, taking part in the 2014 World Cup, and finishing runners-up of the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea (2015).
