Atsu: “My objective is to help the Club move forward”

Left-winger, Christian Atsu was presented as a new Málaga CF player at La Rosaleda’s press room this morning: “I’m quick, technical and I will work very hard”, says the player from Ghana.

Atsu, who will wear the number ‘11’ shirt, is on loan from Chelsea until the end of the 2015/16 season.  During his official presentation, he was accompanied by Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar, and sports director, Francesc Arnau, who says of the African-born player: “Atsu is here because of a decision he made.  He liked the team, and meets the characteristics we were looking for - a fast player on the wings.  He is adaptable to our league competition, so I hope we show him the warmth and affection in order for him to prove what kind of footballer he is” (…)  “We were looking for some very special conditions to fill this position, and we can’t let opportunities pass to have a player with his characteristics on the team.

Here at Málaga we’re experts at knowing how to adapt and accommodate.  The atmosphere in the dressing room will help him to adapt as soon as possible,” says the Girona-born director.

Positive sensations

“My first training session was very good.  I’ve seen the coach and the players.  I can’t wait to get on the pitch and fight for Málaga.  It’s true, I’m always confident playing with my national team (Ghana), and I think with the support from the coach and the fans, I think I’m confident that I’ll perform really well, as I have been doing with my national team.”

“Málaga is a fantastic club, they have great fans; I’ve been here before and I saw the support from the fans when I was with Oporto.  I think I’ll really fit in well and I’ll be happy here.  It was my decision to come to Málaga, it was my choice.  I prepared myself before coming to the Club, in order to be ready.”

Enthusiastic to succeed

“I’m a fast player, technical, hard-working and can also play in many positions.  Every league is very different, and a lot of people watch the Spanish league.  It’s a great league, more technical, they play more football and I think I’ll fit in well with the Spanish league.  My objective is to give my best for the Club and help them move forward.”

“I can play in many positions upfront, but my best is on the right wing.  With regards to players, I know Boka and have been speaking with him, and I think I will be very comfortable here.”
