Another triumph for Atlético Malagueño, trained by Jaime Molina, this time against Arenas de Armilla. A goal by Poley in the second half, with a great shot in front of the Arenas penalty area secured a victory for the Malaguistas who once again returned to promotion positions in Group Nine of the Third Division.
The match between the Malaguistas and the Granadinos was pretty equal throughout, especially in terms of clear goal chances, although Atlético Malagueño were the ones who created more danger and who possessed the ball. The visitors, serious in defence, looked to come out quickly in the few chances that the Malaguistas allowed them, but the home side’s goalie, Pol, hardly had to intervene in the first 45 minutes.
The second half was more intense for the Malaguistas, with the players aware that they needed the three points. With this upping of the pace, the Arenas defence could barely breathe, meaning that the visitors’ goalkeeper had to pull out all the stops on various occasions.
It was during one of these interventions that Poley got the ball in front of the area and booted it to the back of the Granadino net, securing the definitive score in the match.
Only at the end of the game did Arenas de Armilla have a real occasion to score, but between Pol and the Malaguista defence, they stopped what would’ve been an unfair visitors’ goal.
So as the final whistle blew it was one nil to Atlético Malagueño, leaving Jaime Molina’s men in fourth position in the Third Division’s Group Nine with 34 points, one away from Maracena, a rival that has yet to visit the Malaguistas.
