Atlético Malagueño
Atlético Malagueño proclaimed winter champions

The Blue and Whites’ reserve team are current Third Division Group IX champions – having won the brought forward 19th match of the season against Los Villares by 0-1. The team’s biggest rival, Marbella FC, lost to Atarfe Industrial this morning by 2-1.

Although the first round ends today, Atlético Malagueño could still lose their title if the Andalucían Football Federation decides to cancel the results obtained by Unión Estepona, who announced they were leaving the competition last Thursday due to economic reasons, and who didn’t take part in the scheduled match against Melilla B this afternoon.

Salva Ballesta’s boys have achieved eight consecutive League wins, matching the team’s best winning streak in history.  The ‘Malaguistas’ now have 44 points, the best League start for the Blue and Whites, thanks to 14 victories, two draws and three defeats.

Atlético Malagueño, the youngest team in the category, returns to League competition on Sunday 5th January at 12 p.m. in a tough game against Vélez CF, currently in sixth place in the table.
