The senior team from the MCF Academy defeated UD Ciudad de Torredonjimeno by 1-0 at the Málaga Football Federation ground earlier today, in the first match of the season in Third Division Group IX.
The match started very evenly. Neither team took control of play or dominated with clarity. Malagueño, however, did generate more clear goal opportunities. Luismi attempted to surprise the rival goalkeeper with an excellent header following a magnificent pass from Álex Robles, but the keeper deflected the ball with a great save. At the half-time whistle, the result was 0-0.
The second half was very similar to the first. The Blue and Whites’ reserve team tried to take control of the ball, but Ciudad de Torredonjimeno, well-positioned on the pitch, counteracted the locals’ game up until minute 70. Ramos opened the scoring with a fantastic move. The striker showed great low definition, aiming his shot at the base of the post following assistance from Santi inside the area (1-0).
Following the goal, the Malaguistas tried to increase their lead, but the visitors didn’t concede any further goals against the MCF Academy team until the final whistle.
Malagueño has now inaugurated the 2016/17 season, and is now preparing for the next match against CD Rincón.
