Antoñín: “Málaga is my home, my life, it’s everything”

The Blue and White forward held a press conference this Thursday for the media at La Rosaleda. “All strikers want to score goals. I celebrated it like I did as I really wanted it,” he said about his stunning goal in Zaragoza.

“In the end I was led more by my heart, I’m where I want to be and I’m happy because the coach trusted me and I scored a goal,” Antoñín said when asked about the possibility of leaving during the winter transfer window. “I wanted to be here, I didn't ask to leave, but I did talk to the club because there were options to leave. My heart tipped the balance and I decided to stay.”

Regarding Natxo, “the new coach has given me confidence,” he said before talking about his goal at La Romareda: “Scoring a goal gives you a confidence boost. I received the ball from Roberto, from a steal, and I advanced forward to see what would happen. All strikers want to score goals. I celebrated it like I did as I really wanted it.”

Málaga is my home, my life, it’s everything. I want to do my best this year,” said Antoñín who is only focused on “Saturday, taking each match at a time. We’re working well this week, all the players are super involved,” he added.

An Andalusian derby is coming up on Saturday at La Rosaleda. “Almería are a tough rival, but we’re working on countering their strengths, playing the best possible game we can and winning,” the striker went on to say, who sees the defence factor as key: “The most important thing is to defend. Then on the attack we all have our job to do, but getting the details right is important.”

“I play because I belong to Málaga, and I always want to do well. Scoring a goal helps, I know the fans love me and I love them,” concluded the homegrown player born in La Palmilla.
