Angeleri: “We’re up against the best team in the League, but we’re hopeful”
Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Marcos Angeleri held a press conference following this morning’s training session at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium.
The Argentinian-born defender starts by talking about Sunday’s League clash with Fútbol Club Barcelona: “We’re working hard to make sure that we’re performing at our absolute best. Every member of the team is giving their all each day, which should hopefully see us continue on the right track. We’ll try our best on Sunday night to give ourselves as many options as possible on the pitch, as we do in every game, and hopefully come away with a positive result against the toughest team in the League. Barcelona never stop being Barcelona, and they’ll always have the advantage of having such quality players on the team. There have of course been exceptions along the way, with teams claiming points against them, but it’s a very difficult thing to do against such a quality side. They’ll always have the advantage. We’ll be trying to play as well as we possibly can on Sunday, and we’ll always have faith in our ability, even though we’re facing the best team in the League.”
Angeleri, who underwent recovery training in the gym this morning following yesterday’s training match, is available to coach Bernd Schuster for Sunday’s line-up: “I work hard in training each week so I can be as prepared as possible should I be called up to play. If I get chosen to play on Sunday, I’d be over the moon. I enjoy playing every game and make the most out of every chance I get, as there are a lot of players in the squad. It’s always great to play against major teams.”
The versatile Argentine defender talks about his compatriots Messi and ‘Tata’ Martino, as well as his fellow teammate, Pablo Pérez: “Messi is playing amazingly well, which he showed yesterday and in their previous match. I’m a big fan of his. His level of skill is exceptional. You can see ‘Tata’s ideologies and philosophy in Barcelona’s game play, and we’re beginning to see details of what could happen in the future. If he continues as coach, he’ll achieve great things as he’s an amazing manager and an amazing person. With regards to Pablo Pérez, he’s here because he deserves to be. He played very well with Newell’s and has a high level of skill on the pitch. Pablo is an active midfielder who defends well and reaches the goal. I think he’ll bring great things to the team.”
