Statements to MCFTV | Álvaro Fernández

(Proud) “I’m extremely proud to have been called-up to Spain’s under-17s to compete in the World Cup. It’s an honour for me to wear my country’s jersey at such an important event, and I will give my all to achieve as much as possible and take Spain as high as we can”.

(Under-17s) “The coach has given me every confidence to go to the national team, and thanks also to the Club for all the work they’ve done with me. Last year we won the European Championships with a superb team, competing against some major rivals”.

(Academy) “I’m working with the best every day, and they’re teaching me so much. This allows me to take everything I’ve learned here to the national squad, and do my best for my country. We’ve shown over the years that we have one of the best youth ranks in Spain. We’re given a great performance, and this year hope to do the same”.

(Learning) “They don’t treat me as if I’m a young player, but just another member of the team each day. It’s all a dream come true for me, being able to train with the first team, which is where I’ve learnt the most in recent weeks. It will serve me to go the World Cup in the best possible way”.

(World Cup) “Our objective is to go step by step, and if we can win, all the better. That’s our challenge. It’s going to be a great experience for me, both from a football and personal aspect. I want to win more than anything, and get Spain as high as possible”.
