Almendralejo, kilometre 20

Málaga came back from Extremadura with a draw, in the Blue and Whites’ last away game of the first round of LaLiga SmartBank 19/20.

There were numerous standout moments from yesterday’s 0-0 draw at the Francisco de la Hera. We review them here in our kilometre:

Four matches without defeat

The best run of the season. Málaga obtained a win (2-0 against Tenerife) and three draws (3-3 against Elche and 0-0 in Soria and Extremadura) in the last four games. Six of the 12 points at stake were won to continue climbing up the table (16th place) and moving two points away from the team fourth from the bottom in the standings.

Third match with a clean sheet

Munir has put a lock on the goal. His superb save in 85’ secured the point. The Blue and White defence barely granted any opportunities to the rival, accumulating nearly 300 minutes without conceding a goal. The average over the season is lower than the one conceded per game (0’9), with 18 goals conceded in 20 matches. Only the leader, Cádiz (15) and Huesca (17) surpass MCF as teams that have conceded the fewest goals.

Julio, number 359

The current ‘pichichi’ of Atlético Malagueño will never forget this match. Just before the final whistle, in 89’, the forward from Valencia stepped on to the pitch in place of Sadiku to play the final minutes of #ExtremaduraMálaga. Wearing the number ‘40’ jersey, Julio became player number 359 to play a match with the Club since it was re-founded in 1994.

The fans never fail

Regardless of the time, location, category, weather…There is always a large representation of Malaguista fans supporting Málaga CF away from home. Almendralejo was no exception. The stands were coloured Blue and White with members of peñas, individuals and supporters all backing the team come rain or shine. Thank you.
