The effectiveness of UM Escobedo prevails in the Cup (2-0)

Málaga CF suffered defeat in the first round of the Copa del Rey against the side from Cantabria. Local goals from Quinta (51’) and Dalisson (85’) decided the one-match tie.

The Blue and Whites travelled to Camargo (Cantabria) to face UM Escobedo in the Cup. This was not the first time this modest club welcomed a Malaguista team to their stadium (Eusebio Arce), as they played CD Málaga in the same competition 28 years ago.

Málaga CF dominated the initial stages of play. Controlling possession of the ball, they sought the goal with intent on numerous occasions. The side from Camargo meanwhile responded with some dangerous approaches to Gonzalo’s area. However, at half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-0.

In the second half, the tone of play remained the same. Nevertheless, in minute 51, Quinta put the locals in front (1-0). The Blue and Whites tried to respond to the blow but failed to overcome the solvent rival defence. In the closing stages, UM Escobedo sealed their victory in this one-match tie with a second goal. Dalisson scored the 2-0 in 85’. The final whistle sealed the 2-0 result.
