Juankar: “They played their game and caught us out with two rebounds”

The Malaguista player, team captain at the Eusebio Arce, analysed #EscobedoMálaga after the game: “We don’t like losing, but we have another match around the corner”, he stated.

LaLiga takes priority

“Considering the circumstances the Club and squad are in, we knew it would be a problem. As well as the injured players, this is a competition that limits you a great deal, as we’re more focused on the League, that’s where our priority lies. We needed to adapt, playing with players who have accumulated many minutes. We congratulate the rival team, they played their game and claimed victory”.

Difficulties

“We prepared this match to win, we were determined. Within the difficulties of the pitch and the environment, we did what we could, but knew that if we made mistakes the rival would score, which is what happened”.

Conditioning factors

“Although the pitch was artificial, it was pretty good, we thought it would be worse. I don’t believe the field of play should be an excuse. They went out there and imposed their gameplay, caught us out with two rebounds and scored their goals.”

Cursed Cup

“I’ve been here for five years and we’ve always been eliminated in the first round. I don’t know why, but that’s what’s happened. We say farewell to the Cup, congratulate the rival team and now concentrate on the League. We have an important match on Saturday before the Christmas break, and we must make the most of the point we scored the other day against Extremadura”.

Move forward

“It’s clear that’s it’s a difficult competition. There have been more First Division teams that lost, such as Alavés for example. It’s a completely different competition. Of course, we don’t like losing, particularly in these circumstances, but we have another match around the corner”.

Fans

“Even in the cold weather and the situation we’re in, there were a lot of fans there cheering us on. I know they’ll be there on Saturday giving 100 per cent. In the five years I’ve been here they’ve never missed a game. May they remain the same, the team needs them”.
