The Blue and Whites claimed a point against the team in fourth place in Liga Iberdrola, Athletic Club Femenino, and head into the last game of the season two points from salvation.
One point for Málaga CF Femenino from the 0-0 against Athletic Club Femenino on Liga Iberdrola matchday 29, held at the Ciudad Deportiva de Lezama.
Athletic appeared more comfortable on the pitch and dominated possession during the initial stages. The Blue and White defence stood out for its forcefulness whilst restraining the rival attacks, and it was in the 12th minute when a shot from Paula Fernández from a set piece alerted the Bilbao keeper. Málaga attempted to repeatedly overcome the Red and White defence with shots from Adriana and Pamela. Meanwhile, Athletic ran into a secure Chelsea. Some 10 minutes before the end of the first half, Mascaró nearly had the first goal of the game at her feet. The shot from the Blue and White striker went directly towards the goal, but the direction of the ball was deflected and ended up grazing the crossbar. After 45 minutes of play, the scoreboard still showed 0-0 at half-time.
After the break, Málaga had moments of constant attack, but didn’t find success in front of goal. The clearest opportunity for Joseba Aguirre’s girls was thanks to Nekane in 56’, but Chelsea prevented the locals from taking a 1-0 lead. In minute 74, Ode joined play in substitution of Mascaró and narrowly missed scoring the opener with a shot saved by goalkeeper, Ainhoa. Antonio Contreras’ girls didn’t give up and despite stepping up the attacking system by bringing on María Ruiz, the Malaguistas only claimed a point in Lezama (0-0).
