Albacete, kilometre 20

Málaga CF claimed a point from the Carlos Belmonte which, according to what happened on the pitch, could have been another two considering the team’s hard work.

Check out some of the highlights of #AlbaceteMálaga in our first kilometre of 2021:

Jairo’s first

The first goal wearing the Malaguista jersey for the winger from Cantabria, who was highly astute in scoring the 0-1. He took advantage of a lack of application from the local defence to steal possession and end up in a one-on-one with keeper, Tomeu Nadal. The culmination of a good individual performance.

Fourth in a row for Barrio

The third consecutive League match in the starting line-up for the goalkeeper from Asturias and, counting the Cup duel in Coruxo, the fourth on the bounce. Despite not having to do much during play, Dani was on the verge of saving the Ortuño penalty that sealed the 1-1 tie.

Great first round away from home

As the first round of the competition is about to come to a close, the team’s stats away from La Rosaleda have been excellent. Out of 11 games outside Martiricos, the lads have won five and drawn two, to total 17 points and a notable place in the Top 4 of this section in LaLiga SmartBank.

Always closer to the top

Although the team was deserving of more than a draw in Castilla-La Mancha, there are positives in regard to the standings for Pellicer’s team for another week. The Blue and Whites have 27 points with one match remaining in the first round of LaLiga SmartBank, +8 above the drop zone. With two victories they would practically be in playoff positions.
