“Now we have two home games, and everything goes through our temple”

Málaga’s head coach spoke in the press room following the draw against SD Eibar at Ipurúa. “It’s a very valuable point,” he stated.

An important point

“It's a very valuable point, given the circumstances we were coming from, the stature of the opponent, and how the match unfolded.”

A match with ups and downs

“Since the arrival of the new coach, I think we’ve been the team that has put Eibar in the most difficult situations. It was a very balanced match. The first half was very even, with moments where we lacked patience. Then came the final play in the last minute of the first half, with a great technical move from Matheus, that pass that breaks the lines. In the second half, I think we knew how to suffer and be a proactive team again. The unfortunate thing is that, after doing the hardest part, especially here in Ipurúa against Eibar, the equalising goal came quickly. And then, you have to suffer.”

End of the bad streak

“I focus on the process. People only see the result. The process is the path. Now we have two home games, and everything goes through our temple.”

Changes in the second half

“They were changes in structure and profile situations. We were very well positioned in the first half. Then, it’s true that Einar’s yellow card, along with the result, forced us to change to a four-man structure.”

MCF Academy goal-scorers

“Two goals from two young lads. Both Murillo, who has been with us for a long time, and Rafa, who is a recent addition. This is the DNA of this team, with the veteran players helping the young ones.”

Common goal and collective feeling

“What’s important here is the collective. We have a match on Sunday, two at home, which are crucial. With the support of our fans, staying united… The individual comes second. Whether I’m here or not, it’s about the team achieving the goal. That’s the most important thing of all.”
