‘Academy of Values’ continues teaching young players and their families

Juanito and Estrella were the ambassadors of this fourth edition of the MCF Foundation’s project, sponsored by Pinturas Andalucía.

The ‘Academy of Values’ again features some first-class ambassadors this fourth time around; Juanito, Liga Nacional juvenil coach; and Estrella, cadete femenino coach. Both are former Malaguista players who represent the Club’s values perfectly.

Numerous players from Málaga CF’s Alevín, Infantil Femenino and Cadete Femenino teams, accompanied by their families were involved, along with the Club’s representatives. In addition, Manuel Espiritusanto, head of marketing at Pinturas Andalucía represented the sponsoring company who told the players they should make the most of this opportunity within this project, which features great ambassadors who convey the Club’s values first-hand.

Juanito started out by talking about his journey. He said “it’s essential to know what is really important and how we can improve as people.” He conveyed his support for the project and affirmed that “these workshops are important so that everyone can see that there are things to improve on which will be valuable for the future”.

He also addressed the parents of the players. “For me, as a father, it’s far more important that they learn what it means to be good people. Greater importance must be given to their studies above sport, particularly at their age (the players) as they’re still young. Treat the sport as a hobby, do as well as possible and never lose the enthusiasm of making it. Education is crucial in case they don’t.” Moreover, the juvenil coach talked about the subject of injuries, which are also linked to nutrition.

For her part Estrella, the cadete femenino coach and legendary Atlético Málaga goalkeeper, the Club’s former women’s team that won the triple League, Cup and Supercup titles, stated: “The team comes above everything”. She focused on the importance of teamwork and respect for others. “Football isn’t like tennis, one against one. What happens to my teammates affects me and the team. The values of knowing how to be, the sense of belonging, knowing where you are and the shield you represent. You are the face of the shield, that is very important. You always convey values with your behaviour. Also, respect for rivals. These values are important to show at Málaga CF”, she said.

The final session of the ‘Academy of Values’ will take place next Tuesday, when a new group of players from our youth ranks, accompanied by their families, will have the chance to attend another class of Malaguista values.
