A tournament where everyone’s a winner

The Club, through its Foundation, held the first ‘Súpercapacitad@s’ football tournament in Alhaurín de la Torre. Solidarity, integration and sport took centre stage on this special day.

It was a sunny day as a large crowd gathered at one of the pitches at the Los Manantiales sports complex. A great number of toys and non-perishable food was collected in exchange for entrance to the ground. Organised by the MCF Foundation, sponsored by the Diputación Provincial de Málaga and with the collaboration of the sports department of the Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall, the tournament got underway at 11am, with Juan Carlos Tirado (Canal Sur-RTVA) acting as master of ceremonies.

After the inauguration of the four participating teams, Málaga CF-EDI which competes in LaLiga Genuine, Espíritu Deportivo and ADIMI played in a triangular formation amongst themselves, ending in an exhibition match between Málaga Genuine and AFENES. The games were officiated by Ángel Jiménez, the ‘referee of peace’, who didn’t stop showing the green card to all the boys and girls who showed a gesture of fair play during the matches.

The closing ceremony of the ‘Súpercapacitad@s’ tournament involved a medal presentation for everyone who took part, as everyone won by proclaiming themselves as champions. Guests then enjoyed an exquisite paella, courtesy of Paco Gaspar. “My best birthday present is making rice for them”, he told MCFTV.

Present at the event were local mayor, Joaquín Villanova; councillor of the area, Prudencio José Ruiz; as well as sports delegate at the Diputación de Málaga, Cristóbal Ortega. “Congratulations to the Foundation and the Club for carrying out these initiatives, it’s a wonderful tournament during the festive season”, he said. Basti, from the social department of the MCF Foundation spoke of a “tournament where camaraderie was a true spectacle, I loved seeing the smiles on all the players’ faces”, whilst Juankar, Blue and Whites’ player who was watching the tournament affirmed “they are all an example to follow, it’s emotional watching them play”. Bravo, champions!
