A point from the final match of the season in Almería (0-0)

All square for Málaga CF against the Red and Whites at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos. The Blue and Whites, very solid in defence, claimed a point from the last league game of the season.

The Malaguistas faced the Red and Whites on the final match of LaLiga SmartBank (42) this Monday night. The duel was held in Almería behind closed doors, as required by current health protocol.

The Blue and Whites kicked off with the intention of taking the lead. Pellicer’s men surprised the rivals on the counter-attack on several occasions and generated goal opportunities, but lacked precision in front of the target. In defence, the Malaguistas didn’t allow the rival any dangerous approaches to goal in the entire first half. At half-time the scoreboard still showed 0-0.

In the second half, the match continued along the same lines. Málaga owned the ball and completely controlled the pace of play. However, despite the visitors’ dominance, the locals managed to penetrate the Blue and White defence to score two goals in 52’ and 61’, but both were disallowed for the scorer being offside (Barbero on both occasions).

Pellicer’s men also enjoyed opportunities to get ahead on the scoreboard, but were unsuccessful in their various attempts. The final score on the referee’s whistle was 0-0.

Málaga CF end the season in 14th place in the standings with 53 points, and are the team to have conceded the fewest goals, with Munir winning the historic Zamora Trophy.
