A Herrero: “I can’t wait for Sunday to come and keep moving forward”

The Málaga goalkeeper spoke to the media in the post-match press conference after the Málaga-UD Las Palmas game. “Whatever happens, the fans will be by our side and we’ll keep going with confidence, joy, and bravery,” he said.

Great rival and a special day

“I want to congratulate the opponent for their performance. They were more than worthy opponents, and congratulations for that. We’re on cloud nine, with a controlled happiness. You can enjoy it, but on Sunday we have another final and we need to start, from right now, keeping our feet on the ground. I feel privileged to be able to experience a match like today’s, and everything we’ve created together. It’s been extremely special and I’m enjoying it a lot. I can’t wait for Sunday to come and to keep moving forward.”

Youth and growth

“I spoke about it during halftime with a couple of teammates. These are matches where you grow. Youth brings a certain lack of experience, and in games like this, when they find themselves in similar situations again, they’ll remember it. I’m happy because the team stood up and was counted, and knowing that, whatever happens, our fans will be by our side. We’ll keep going with confidence, joy, and bravery.”

Fans lifting us up

“It’s been incredible. When you’re on the pitch, you try to shut everything out and experience it as naturally as possible. But on days like today, that’s very difficult. They carried us through the game, and we can only say thank you. There’s always that extra boost your people give you, and that makes the difference. When they push you like that, it’s beautiful.”

Recovery

“There’s little time to recover, so we have to adapt to that. We’ve got a young squad that can recover well, and we have everything we need to make the most of it. That’s the situation, and I’m sure we’ll keep responding.”

Personal

“For me, it’s special to be here. I feel loved and comfortable, and I try to contribute from my position on the pitch and off it. It’s a very beautiful story. In my mind, I’ve always had the idea of moving forward and growing alongside this club. I feel privileged to be living these moments. As the coach says, you have to enjoy things while they’re happening.”
