A Herrero: “We knew how to fight in a game full of challenges”

The Málaga CF captain spoke in the mixed zone at La Romareda after #RealZaragoza. “I am very proud of the team, we have shown what we are capable of,” said the goalkeeper.

Analysis of the draw

“The first thing I want to say is that I’m very proud of the team effort. Here, at La Romareda, against this great team, we’ve shown that we are doing things very well. The game turned against us around the 35th minute, but as I said, I only have words of pride for my teammates. We have to keep reinforcing what we’ve been doing, continue giving everything in every match.”

“As the coach said, we fought like gladiators, and we played really good football away from home. The away win hasn’t come yet, but we’re taking it step by step, laying the foundations to do things right.”

A second half of resistance

“We knew how to stay very well organised in a low defensive line given the situation we had to face. La Romareda is a stadium that adds extra pressure, but we were very clear about what we needed to do. We spoke in the locker room, and although we wanted to play a bit more football, they were pressing us high and making things difficult.”

“In the end, the physical stats will surely show that the team gave everything. We could have lost the game, as they attacked more in the final stretch, but I am very happy with the team's performance.”

Motivation in the dressing room

“We tried to find solutions in a difficult match, against a great opponent, and in a challenging stadium. Now it's time to move forward, think about the next match against another very demanding rival.”
