Ochoa: “I will have the chance to help the team directly”

Mexican goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa held a press conference this afternoon in the Ciudad de Málaga press room: “You shouldn’t give up on your dreams if you face obstacles in your career.”

Opportunity to play

“I’m happy as I will have the chance to help the team directly, on the pitch.  Beforehand I did so indirectly; day to day, in training and whilst travelling.  Now I will focus on enjoying this chance, and fulfilling the team’s objectives, which we’re close to doing.”

Personal situation

“I was patient, then this opportunity arose and I had to step up to the mark.  I think I’ve behaved impeccably towards my teammates at all times, being professional on and off the pitch.  I’m pleased that this possibility opened up for me, although it’s not ideal due to the injury of my teammate, but it’s happened and I feel ready, the same as the other members of the team.  We work hard every day to be prepared for when the coach needs us.”

Fight for your dreams

“I am here because of a decision I made.  I wanted to stay in Spain, in Europe, both personally and from a footballing aspect.  I had to assess every situation as you shouldn’t give up on your dreams if you face obstacles in your career.  You must fight, as in life, you face difficult situations which you must affront head on, step up and work hard, as this will open doors.”

LaLiga and Sporting

“I’ve seen that the Spanish League has a very high level of intensity.  They are very close games that are won by technical details or from set pieces.  Nobody will give anything away.  Friday’s match is going to be extremely tough, Sporting are in a delicate situation, where every game for them will be like a final.  Play is going to be difficult, but the team has been solid defensively for most of the competition, and at home we’re strong, so we’ll do our best to take advantage of that.”
