Baysse inherits Toulalan’s crown

Málaga’s new defensive reinforcement enters a select list of French players at the Club, including majestic midfielder, Jérémy Toulalan who shone during the ‘Champions era’.

Paul Baysse, who developed his entire career in France will make his home as a French player within the Martiricos entity. The last French player to be part of Málaga CF was Toulalan, between 2011 and 2013; a colossal midfielder who was key in the Club’s most outstanding stage, with historic participation in the Champions League, and in the best League classifications of all time.

More recent cases were those of Nabil Baha and Selim Benachour, born in France and internationals with Morocco and Tunisia respectively. At the end of the last century, there were two French central defenders on the team, who formed part of the penultimate rise to the First Division in the 1998/99 season. Dorado and Brahim, the latter of Malian origin, scored the first goal in the Second Division in the history of MCF.

Spanish players born in France who played for Málaga were midfielder, Armando (MCF - 94/95) and goalkeeper, Toni (CD Málaga – 84/86). In regard to coaches, the legendary Marcel Domingo was the French-born coach of Málaga between 1972 and 1975, who coincidentally played and coached the team where Paul Baysse came from, OGC Nice.
