Women’s team debut with major win (0-8)

The Malaguistas secured a solvent victory against Polillas Atlético de Ceuta in their season opener.

Málaga CF Femenino defeated Club Polillas Atlético de Ceuta by 8 goals to 0 in the first match of Second Division Group IV. Goals from Paula, María Ruiz, Sheila, Janira and Noelia gave the Malaguista girls the first win of the season.

Contreras’ girls stepped on to the field of play with clear ideas. They dominated the initial minutes of the match, and the system gave Paula a goal in minute 10 (0-1). The international hooked the ball inside the area to send it to the back of the net, leaving the rival keeper without options. Following the goal, both sides disputed the ball in midfield. Janira and Encarni both had goal number two at their feet, but it was María Ruiz who netted the ball with an unstoppable shot at a distance in the 33rd minute (0-2). The Malaguista squad took possession of the ball, and five minutes before the end, a masterful corner by Raquel assisted Sheila to perform a successful header, to take the lead to 0-3 at half-time.

In the second half, Málaga, far from content with the result, rearmed on the attack. After the first five minutes of play, Sheila again hooked the ball to make it 0-4. The Blue and Whites were comfortable on the pitch, and 10 minutes later -60’- Paula chest-controlled the ball and increased her team’s lead to 0-5. Contreras made some changes, replacing Farfán and Raquel with Marta and Sandra respectively. Paula continued with her gameplay, leading to a brilliant goal, 0-6, with no chance for the Polillas goalkeeper. With the match resolved, Janira paid her debt to the goal thanks to a perfect pass from Luisa, to ascend to a 0-7 lead in minute 84. Two minutes before the final whistle, Noelia propelled the perfect shot from outside the area to seal the 0-8 victory in the first match of the 2017-18 season.
