Contreras: “We have a united group, working in the same direction”
Captain, María Ruiz, and international, Paula Fernández analyse the first victory of the season. “The collective sensations are good”.
Málaga CF Femenino coach, Antonio Contreras talks about his team’s 0-8 win against Club Polillas Atlético at the José Benoliel ground in Ceuta, the first match of the season in Second Division Group IV.
Positive review
“The sensations are what we expected they’d be. It’s true that we could have had doubts, having played no pre-season games, but we arrived with the security of having a united group, working in the same direction. We’ve been training very well, methodical in the work we’ve been doing as a team, and I think we had clear ideas”:
María Ruiz
“Those that know me know I never give anything away. I want María to defend the captain’s armband, in the way Málaga and the people expect. I think she deserves it, and I want it to act as another incentive to be a footballer”.
Teamwork
“The group lacked three important players who wanted to be part of the team so we felt stronger. That’s important”.
For their part, María Ruiz and Paula Fernández appeared in the mixed zone following the match.
María Ruiz:
Captain
“It was a huge surprise for me to be named captain at 16 years of age, however I felt very comfortable on the pitch. Training sessions resulted in everything going very well”
Debut goal
“I’m very happy with my first goal, I hope it’s the first of many. Above all, I want to continue helping the team”.
Paula Fernández:
“I’m thrilled to have played my first match with Málaga. The team has been great in this first game, the sensations, both individual and collective, are also good”.
