Willy: “We were fortunate with the other match results”

Málaga CF goalkeeper, Willy Caballero, held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium this morning, ahead of the first training session of the week.

Analysing Sunday’s draw against Real Zaragoza positively, Caballero takes into account the results from other League matches:
“We were fortunate with the other match results last weekend however it would have been slightly better if we’d have won.  We’ve now got to focus on gaining three points from every match, including away games.”

Following the great performance by the Argentinean-born keeper on Sunday, he still hasn’t received the call for international duty:
“I’m always concentrating on doing the best I can for the team.  Anything other than that isn’t up to me.  It’s not a bad thing, I think I just need to remain focused on doing my job as well as I can, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to play for my country soon.  The current team really is made up of the best footballers in Argentina.”

Willy also talks about the excitement surrounding Julio Baptista’s return:
“It’s wonderful for him and his family, as well as his team mates, that he’s now back on the pitch and doing what he loves to do again.  The reaction from the fans when he joined the game on Sunday was incredible, and we’re looking forward to the comeback of an amazing player.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s match against Levante UD, the goalkeeper speaks about the tough rival, particularly at their home ground in Valencia:
“Every time we’ve come up against Levante it’s been a difficult match.  They work very well in defence and from set pieces.  We’ve seen them win and lose matches, but they’re a tough team to beat.  I hope we can come home with a win on Saturday at their ground, where I think they've only lost two games.”
