Well-deserved and hard-fought first point for the women’s team

The good defence shown by the Blue and Whites and a solid performance in goal were decisive in scoring a point against Valencia CF Femenino.

Málaga CF Femenino drew 0-0 against Valencia CF Femenino in the fourth Liga Iberdrola match held at the Antonio Puchades. The Blue and Whites claimed their first point of the season.

Málaga stepped on to the pitch at the Antonio Puchades with confidence, and had the first approach towards the Valencia goal in minute 5 of play with a shot by team captain Adriana Martín, who skied the ball over the crossbar. The remaining 40 minutes involved back and forth between both sides with occasions for each. Chelsea was the star of the first half, during which Valencia had two clear opportunities thanks to Mari Paz that the Malaguista goalkeeper deflected without any problems. With six minutes remaining until half-time, María Ruiz tried to mislead Jennifer with a long shot that didn’t find the goal. The clearest chance for the visitors came in 43’ when María Ruiz stood face to face with the ´Ché’ keeper. The clearance landed at Adriana’s boots and the captain wasn’t able to convert. The first half ended with the same equality as when it started.

In the second half Valencia came out stronger but didn’t find the formula to overcome the Blue and Whites’ defence. In 51’ Málaga had a clear chance thanks to Patricia Mascaró. The striker grazed the ball with the tip of her boot and surprised Jennifer, although the ball ended up in her hands. Contreras made some changes, giving minutes to Dominika, Encarni, Kuc and Postigo. The Malagueña, who substituted Mayara in 77’, made her First Division debut and maintained the level of the defence. The star of the second half was Chelsea. The Malaguista goalkeeper blocked the shots by Valencia one by one and stayed solid in goal. Her good performance in keeping a clean sheet saw the final result end in a 1-1 draw. As such, Málaga Femenino claimed the first point of the season.
