We’ll be back

Málaga CF Femenino’s 4-2 victory against Rayo Vallecano wasn’t enough to stay in the elite and the Blue and White team descends to 1ªB.

Victory for Málaga CF Femenino by 4-2 against Rayo Femenino on Liga Iberdrola matchday 30. Despite the win, the Blue and Whites didn’t manage to stay up as Madrid CFF’s victory against Athletic de Bilbao means the Malaguistas are relegated in 15th place in the standings.

Málaga Femenino dominated play in the initial stages and took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute thanks to a penalty converted by Adriana. The referee awarded the penalty due to a foul on Paula Fernández, which the captain executed perfectly to put the home side in front. Despite the game focused in Rayo’s area, the Madrid-based rival took the lead by the end of the first half thanks to two consecutive goals from Altuve. The first 45 minutes ended with the locals 1-2 down.

In the second half, Málaga besieged the rival area and in 62’ scored the equaliser, the work of María Ruiz. Ruth placed the ball for the striker from Almáchar who levelled up the scoreboard. Two minutes later, after coming on in place of Dominika, Armisa Kuc scored the 3-2. The last goal of the game was an Adriana header in 72’. At 4-2 the match came to an end. Málaga conveyed a very good image in defence, with two interventions from Chelsea allowing the home side to maintain the favourable result.

Despite the good image and winning the three points in front of a practically full Federación ground, Málaga CF Femenino didn’t manage to remain in the top flight and is relegated to Primera División B.
