Weligton: “It’s an honour reaching 200 LaLiga games”

Brazilian defender, Weligton Robson Pena de Oliveira has again made history with Málaga CF. He reached his 200th LaLiga match in the First Division with the Blue and Whites tonight against Celta de Vigo.

One of the ‘Malaguista’ captains couldn’t have celebrated reaching 200 matches in the elite with Málaga in a better way than tonight’s 2-0 win against Celta at La Rosaleda.  Weligton, a key player in the team’s promotion to the First Division during his first year at the Club (2007/08), has reached such a high number of games thanks to his excellence in defence.  During his 8th campaign in the elite (2008/2016), he has accumulated 74 victories, 46 draws and 80 defeats with MCF, scoring eight goals and 17,429 minutes of play.  He was also part of two of Málaga CF’s best First Division League positions in history (4th, 2011/12 and 6th, 2012/13).

“I’m very emotional.  It’s an honour for me to reach 200 First Division matches wearing this shirt and defending this Club. I never imagined I’d be at a club for such a long time.  MCF is the Club of my life and I’m very happy,” says the defender to MCFTV.
