Welcome back José

New Malaguista coach, José González knows the house of the Blue and Whites well. On his first day at La Rosaleda he met up with Antonio Benítez, who was coach during his time as a player, and who wished him “lots of luck, for the good of everyone”.

José González, new Malaguista coach, arrived at the Entity as a player in the 1995/96 season at the hand of Antonio Benítez, ex-coach and current Club adviser. The former manager welcomed his ex-player in person as he takes the reins of the team.

Before his official presentation in front of the media, Benítez spoke to MCFTV to describe the Málaga CF coach: “As a person he’s excellent. Not because he’s just arrived, or for the sake of praising him, but because it’s true. He showed this before, during and after he was here”, he explains.

During his time defending the Blue and White jersey, he recalls: “I followed him a lot as a player, I was interested in bringing him here and in the end, I achieved it. Because of his characteristics as a player, he could be a good coach as he has character, he doesn’t shy away from anything. I think as a coach these traits aren’t taken away from you”.

Finally, he adds: “I wish him lots of luck, good luck that we haven’t had up to now, as it will be for the good of everyone”.
