“We need to work with enthusiasm until the end of the season”
The Málaga CF striker held a press conference following Wednesday morning’s training: “The situation isn’t the best. None of us like being like this”.
Rest
“I think a break is always good to allow us to rest, both physically and mentally. Our batteries are now fully charged, we’re raring to go and keen to perform in the best possible way. We need to try and win our first match of the second round, which is turning out to be a real struggle for us. Hopefully we’ll do it this week”.
Future
“The sports management knows my thoughts. If Málaga remains in the First Division, I have a contract saying I have to stay. It’s difficult, and until the end we won’t know what’s going to happen, but they are already aware of my position”.
Situation
“The situation isn’t the best. None of us like being like this, but we are where we are. We have to try and do the best we can and work with enthusiasm until the end of the season”.
Fight
“Until the mathematics says otherwise, we’ll keep trying and doing all we can. I think the enthusiasm is still there. We’re training well every day and the coach goes home happy with the work we’re doing. That’s why there’ll be no problem”.
Villarreal CF
“I have great affection for Villarreal, despite only being there for a year. The Club and the fans are very familiar. A match against Villarreal will always be exciting. Hopefully we’ll win the three points, which is what we all want”.
Fans
“We cannot say anything to the fans. Week after week the players sit here and say we’ll keep trying our best until the end. None of us benefit from the team going down to Second Division. We want the fans to continue supporting and encouraging us as they have been up until now. If I put myself in their place I’d also be angry and upset with the team. That hurts me a great deal”.
